What is IRRI-6 5% Broken?
IRRI-6 5% broken is the cleanest commodity tier of Pakistan's non-basmati long-grain rice. Each lot is dehusked, polished, and sortex cleaned to remove discolored, chalky, and foreign kernels. The final cargo holds a maximum 5% broken kernels by weight, with the balance running near-whole at 6.0mm raw grain length and 14mm+ cooked.
This grade is a sister origin to India's IR64 5% broken. When Indian export bans or pricing volatility disrupt IR64 supply, IRRI-6 from Pakistan is the standard substitute. Specs match on grain length, milling profile, and broken percentage.

IRRI-6 5% Broken FAQ
5% broken means a maximum of 5% broken kernels by weight. The remaining 95% are whole or near-whole long grains at 6.0mm raw length. This is the cleanest commodity grade available before specialty silky-polished tiers.
Paddy is dehusked, polished in a Reasonably Well Milled to Extra Well Milled finish, then sortex cleaned (electronic optical color sorting) to remove discolored, chalky, and foreign kernels. The final cargo is silky polished where the buyer specifies it.
5 x 20' FCL (~135 metric tons) for any IRRI-6 grade. Mixed grades are possible within a single FCL. Each 20' container holds 25-27 MT in 50 kg PP bags (500-540 bags per container). Private-label minimum is 10 x 20' FCL.
