Heritage

Family business since 1938. Rice exports since 2005.

Our family entered food trading in 1938 in pre-partition India. In 1962, Haroon Abdul Sattar Trading was registered in Karachi by our founder. The third generation now runs the export desk. We sell what our grandfather sold: bulk grain to traders who care about contract performance, not pitch decks.

Rice exports started in 2005 under HAS Rice Pakistan. 21 years later, we ship IRRI-6 to 50+ countries with a 150 MT/day mill, 6 facility certifications, and 3 trade registrations. We are not a trading desk reselling other mills. The paddy is procured from lower Sindh, processed in our own mill, and shipped on our own contracts.

For our complete rice export portfolio across all varieties (basmati, IRRI-9, PK-386), see our full rice export portfolio at pakistanrice.com. For premium long-grain aromatic rice, see our premium 1121 Basmati rice.

Process

Seven steps from paddy to container.

Every kilogram passes the same sequence. Pre-shipment inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas, or Intertek closes the loop before the bill of lading is issued.

  1. 1

    Procurement

IRRI-6 paddy sourced direct from lower Sindh growers (Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Tando Muhammad Khan).

  2. 2

    Drying & storage

Paddy dried to 13.5% moisture max, stored in fumigated silos.

  3. 3

    Husking

Husk removed; brown rice extracted. Brown rice stream branches off here for EU buyers.

Bran layer removed in stages. Reasonably Well Milled / Extra Well Milled / Silky Polished options.

  5. 5

    Sortex / Fan cleaning

Electronic optical sorting (Sortex) or air separation (Fan Cleaned). Sortex commands $10/MT premium.

  6. 6

    Pre-shipment inspection

Independent inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas, or Intertek. 99% first-pass rate.

  7. 7

    Bagging & loading

50 kg PP woven bags standard. 25 kg BOPP for branded retail. 20' FCL only, 25-27 MT per container.

Walk through the mill

The mill runs a single integrated line. Paddy enters at intake; bagged cargo leaves at loading. Each stage below shows the equipment and the physical transformation. Click a stage to expand the photo strip.

    Stage 1 / 7

    Intake

Paddy received from Sindh growers, weighed, and sampled for moisture and varietal purity.

  3. Stage 3 of 7: Husking
    Stage 3 / 7

    Husking

Rubber-roll hullers strip the husk; the result is brown rice (bran intact). Brown SKU diverts here.

  4. Stage 4 of 7: Whitening
    Stage 4 / 7

    Whitening

Mill is GACC-registered (active). Process certifications: ISO 22000:2018, ISO 9001:2015, HACCP, GMP, Halal. Inspection bodies (SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek) are present at loading at MOQ 10 x 20' FCL or above.

5-star container loading

Twelve photos from the loading line. Manual 5-star stacking pattern keeps 50 kg PP woven bags stable through the multi-week ocean transit. Click any tile for full-screen lightbox.
