Brown rice (HS 1006.20) carries a lower import tariff than milled white (HS 1006.30) under the EU rice regime. What is IRRI-6 Brown Rice?
IRRI-6 brown rice is paddy with the inedible husk removed but the bran layer intact. The grain reads tan to light brown rather than white. Compared to fully milled rice, brown rice retains the bran oils, fibre, and most of the surface vitamins. The trade-off: shorter shelf life unless stored cool.

Who buys IRRI-6 brown rice
EU rice mills running on the tariff-arbitrage trade. Italian mills (Po Valley) take the bulk. Dutch mills route through Rotterdam. CIS importers also take brown rice for Russian and Eastern European mill polishing. A small share moves into the health-food retail tier, but the dominant volume is mill input.

HS 1006.20 covers husked (brown) rice, where only the inedible husk has been removed and the bran layer remains intact. HS 1006.30 covers semi-milled or wholly milled rice (white). Brown rice is the EU mill input. White rice is the consumer-ready output.
5 x 20' FCL (~135 metric tons) for any IRRI-6 grade. Mixed grades are possible within a single FCL. Each 20' container holds 25-27 MT in 50 kg PP bags (500-540 bags per container). Private-label minimum is 10 x 20' FCL.
