Quick Answer

IRRI-6 white rice from Pakistan: $340-$380/MT FOB Karachi across 5 SKUs. 5% broken white ($360-$380/MT) is the premium retail tier. 25% broken white ($346-$366/MT) is the commodity staple. Sub-grades

Pick the broken-percentage that matches your market.

Lower broken percent reads cleaner on the retail shelf and commands a $10–$30/MT premium over the commodity tiers. Higher broken percent ships at lower price points and serves daily-staple consumption in West Africa.

25% also available as a Fan Cleaned variant (air-cleaned, not sortex-cleaned) at roughly $10/MT below 25% Sortex. Detail on the 25% page.

What "white rice" means in IRRI-6 terms.

IRRI-6 is a long-grain non-basmati rice variety grown across Lower Sindh (Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Tando Muhammad Khan). The white-rice line removes the husk and the bran, then mills to one of four standard finishes: brown, reasonably well milled, extra well milled, and silky polished. The mill defaults to extra well milled for the export-grade SKUs you see on this hub. Silky polish is available on request and adds a $5–$10/MT premium.

All five white-rice SKUs share the same starting paddy. The split happens at the cleaning and sorting stage. Lower broken percent = more sorting passes = higher mill yield loss = higher FOB price. Higher broken percent = fewer sorting passes = lower price = the daily-staple commodity tier.

Pre-shipment inspection

Pre-shipment inspection is included on every order of 10 FCL or more. We work with SGS, Bureau Veritas, or Intertek for sampling, lab analysis, and certificate issuance. First-pass inspection rate is 99%. Below 10 FCL, third-party inspection is available at the buyer's cost. Pesticide screening is performed by LC-MS/MS and the result accompanies the shipment.

Where IRRI-6 white rice goes

East Africa is the largest white-rice destination cluster: Kenya (Mombasa retail in 25 kg / 50 kg PP), Tanzania (Dar es Salaam, with transit to Zambia / Malawi / DRC), Mozambique (Beira / Maputo). China imports 5% and 25% via Shanghai under the GACC framework. CIS routes through Constanta and Rijeka cover Eastern Europe and CIS retail.

West Africa runs more on broken percentages. See broken rice for the 100% broken category and parboiled for the West African parboiled tier.

IRRI-6 White Rice FAQ

IRRI-6 is Pakistan's most exported non-basmati long-grain rice. The variety descends from the IRRI breeding program (sister to India's IR64). It grows in Sindh province with a 6.0mm raw grain length, mild aroma, and is available in five broken percentages from 5% (premium) to 100% (staple food grade), plus brown and parboiled processing types.

Match the broken percentage to your end-market. 5% broken white serves retail and food-service tiers in Kenya, Tanzania, China, and CIS. 10% and 15% are mid-tier commodity grades. 25% (Sortex or Fan Cleaned) is the staple commodity grade for West Africa and Mozambique. Lower broken percent commands a price premium because of cleaner sorting and lower mill yield.

Both are 25% broken white IRRI-6. Sortex 25% goes through electronic optical color sorting, removing discolored, chalky, and foreign kernels. Fan Cleaned 25% uses air and gravity separation, which removes lighter impurities (husks, chaff, dust) but does not sort by color. Fan Cleaned costs roughly $10/MT less and is acceptable for commodity routes.

FOB Karachi ranges from $315/MT (100% broken) to $380/MT (5% broken white) and $360-$380/MT for parboiled. Prices are indicative and update daily on the /prices/ page. Confirmed quotes are issued by the export desk and valid 48 hours.

5 x 20' FCL (~135 metric tons) for any IRRI-6 grade. Mixed grades are possible within a single FCL. Each 20' container holds 25-27 MT in 50 kg PP bags (500-540 bags per container). Private-label minimum is 10 x 20' FCL.

Only 20' FCL (Full Container Load). Each 20' container carries 25-27 MT depending on packaging. We do not load 40' containers for IRRI-6.
